No. 3 Abbey Court, the national headquarters of the Radio Society of Great Britain

GB4FUN is run by the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) with funding provided by its charitable arm the Radio Communications Foundation (RCF).

The GB4FUN project also wishes to thanks the host of equipment manufacturers and radio dealers who have contributed equipment and expertise; their names are listed at the foot of this page.

The Radio Society of Great Britain

The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) was founded in 1913 by early experimenters in radio communications and electronics.

The RSGB's primary role is to represent the interests of those licensed by the UK government to use the radio spectrum for leisure purposes and experimentation. This group of people are known as Radio Hams. There are some 60,000 radio hams in the UK and around 6 million worldwide.

The Radio Society of Great Britain is actively involved in the field of education and training and promotes the use of radio communication as a tool to cover a number of key areas in the National Curriculum: these include space sciences, physics, mathematics, geography and social studies. The RSGB also provides and administers all three levels of the Radio Communication Examinations on behalf of the regulator, Ofcom. These exams are internationally recognised and a pass is required to hold a Radio Amateur licence.
